I just changed over from Avast (free) to Panda (free) because of some warnings from Avast that I found to be unfounded involving "invalid certificates." My real point though is I researched free AV programs with a Google search. Reputable sites had various rankings in descending order of which programs they thought were best. Some did not include top rated programs that others liked. Most confusing, at least to this amateur.

Suggest not overlooking the need to handle pups and tracking cookies. Although I use hardware firewall (router), Comodo (free) software firewall, Bitdefender (paid) for my active antivirus protection and Malwarebytes (free) as an on demand malware scanner ... none of these handles Pups and tracking cookies and for this task I use SuperAntiSpyware Free (SAS) and it does an excellent job (of course I also do not allow third party cookies via FF options).

Lastly, I use Better Privacy (FF plugin) for those persistent trackers (LSOs).

Just wish there was a good solution to a very old PC problem .... that of keystroke loggers. Although there are a number of mostly paid solutions available, none are very effective IMO.

Luck
