It depends on a variety of factors. There are even cases where raising the prices increases the demand.

Again, not true. Where do you think demand comes from? Besides, this is one of the foundations of supply-side economics which has been shown repeatedly to not work in the real world. Just look at Kansas, Louisiana, Wisconsin and all of those Republican states which have experimented with the concepts of supply-side. Universally exploding deficits and a lackluster economy. At best.
