It seems that some keyboards have very little thought based input.

Ah, the ever substantive ad hominem man strikes again. Quite a dialogue you got going here John.

John -

The user of Win 98, I am sure will be able to do the same thing but
he will also get a brownie point from DOJ.

Sure, IE is the default browser in Win98, the only wierd thing is that the word default implies that you can change it. You can't. If you want to use another browser to open an embedded URL in Win98, you're SOL. The Win98 user will have no choice about what browser to use. MSFT will have made it for them. Having no choice is bad for the consumer, and pollutes the marketplace. Why can MSFT do this? Because they're leveraging their OS business to gain the upper hand in their application business. No other company can do this. No other company has this ability. Here's a comparable situation :

USWest and the other RBOCs change their switching systems such that they are incompatible with today's phones. They then distribute free compatible phones to the American public. What's bad about that, you ask? All the other phone companies would go out of business. No more MCI, Sprint, or the small companies trying to gain a foothold in the local or long distance market. The consumer would have no choice.

Hey, I'm a registered libertarian, and I understand what limiting the consumer's choice means, why can't you?

>> For some I elect to use Communicator and for some I elect to use the smaller Nav3.01

And on Win95, for some you will be forced to use IE, whether you like it or not.
