Even if Mr. Akins is right and on average Cymer ships 600 laser units each year for the next five years or so this should not do much to the share price. I disagree. The production rampup costs have been paid, so the bottom line earnings should improve. Then there are the ever increasing consumables and spares which are tied to the size of installed base. And then there are the product improvements. Around year 2000 ArF lasers will be replacing the KrF lasers shipping now. Critical geometries by then will have shrunk to 0.18 nm leading to a new round of capital equipment updates. And a few years later still the critical dimmensions will shrink some more to 0.13 nm and the whole process will be repeated. Most see this a roboust business for DUV equipment suppliers. Tulvio
