I don't even understand why you and Smith are fighting the idea that early education is fundamentally important to the intellectual development of a child?

1 - We aren't talking about early education. We are talking about preschool. Kids learn outside of formal schooling, not just inside of it.

2 - Because the evidence strongly suggests that it doesn't matter much, and because its expensive.
