Larry: isn't the DOW index predominated by the stocks with the biggest market cap? I think GE has the biggest cap, shorting GE plus the two biggest other stocks (IBM? KO?) will give you a good proxy. (This is true of the Nasdaq with intel, msft and csco.) I sure wouldn't waste my time shorting GE...
