"be massive protests and rioting in every major city." so then we can just shoot them, that works for me, look at the carbon foot print savings from having them shipped back to where they belong

Doubtful - simply enforcing various laws and ending free money to non-citizens will force many to go home and stop more from coming that aren't here for the right reasons to begin with. Deporting all criminal illegals would be a no brainer with high support, as would building a fence. After that require e-verify, end benefits to illegals and start looking at how to allow the good, hard working illegals, not sucking up resources to apply for some legal status. Start requiring bio-metric data collection for all visa holders in case they over stay - use the IRS records to track down all the cases of ID theft - i.e. using the SSN for multiple people. Each step in turn improves our security and reduces the illegal population over time - ban sanctuary cities and drivers licenses to illegals. I'm already hearing my drivers license will not be allowed as ID at airports very soon due to my state giving them to illegals - who use fake documents.
