At the time there really wasn't a concept of the sciences. They were all considered part of natural philosophy. That included alchemy. The term 'natural philosophy' hung around until the 1800s when the sciences started to split off into specialties.

Regardless, it was natural for someone like Newton to dabble in several areas of natural philosophy.

Isaac Newton was WAY more into alchemy than physics. His physics was just a byproduct of his alchemy.

The point I was making is that, just because he's a doctor, doesn't mean he's automatically healthy in the head. All evidence so far points to troubling beliefs and odd notions.
