CS's day's of glory as a Hub manufacturer (Layer 2) has been history for more than a year. In their new product line ,the MMAC family is a Layer 2 switch reserved explicitly for data Centres etc . Workgroup and Desktops requiring high speeds, virtual LAN configuration and L3 (Net protocols changes)seem to be served by the new Smartswitch series which is a Layer3 switch. You may wish to browse thru the Cabletron product line at www.ctron.com and confirm if this interpretation is correct. Thx.
