VW really screwed themselves over. All of the auto manufacturers perhaps issue twice the emission level on the open road with an erratic real driver as on tests, but VW was by a factor of 40 by outright cheating.

All because they didn't want to pay licensing fees to Daimler for the BlueTek system which they finally paying for this year anyway - and still don't meet the standard with that because they tried to use less urea than needed.

At least the two families in charge of VW are the majority shareholders, so the punishment will be taken appropriately.
