Ben Carson is just a typical Republican. They live in a world of make-believe and...fraud.

I'd not heard that before. It is disappointing news for sure. If he lied about West Point, it is more probable he lied about other details of his history.

Apparently he was offered an appointment at West Point but his admission would have been free, no scholarship was needed. He did not, however, apply. An unnecessary embellishment. The embellishment doesn't really amount to much but why do it in the first place, the story would have been just as good if he'd said he was offered an appointment.

“He was introduced to folks from West Point by his R.O.T.C. supervisors,” Mr. Bennett said. “They told him they could help him get an appointment based on his grades and performance in R.O.T.C. He considered it but in the end did not seek admission.”
