:-) This Ben stuff has actually been really fun to discuss in class. We read Into the Wild (which was followed by a book disclosing abuse in the family written by Chris's sister). Krakauer was enamored with Chris, and very clearly biased in his favor- which makes the narrative so much fun to tear apart- looking for pathos (and there are equally slanted articles from people who disliked Chris). It's hard to know what the truth really was- not unlike Ben's story. So it was a fun tie in to our literature. Sometimes the news is such a gift to an English teacher.
