Television and newspapers don't make stupid people say stupid and embarrassing things, they're merely a megaphone allowing far more people to hear, see and read the embarrassing stupidity.

A video of bizarre and stupid people like the stupid housewives of Carbunkle Quarter is in fact so morbidly fascinating that it has been the basis for "reality shows".

In contrast a video of intelligent people can be fascinating educational and entertaining.

Only the people portrayed determine whether they're captured on video being a buffoonish train wreck or an admirable and engaging person you'd like to know.

Fact checking though is a journalistic drudgery which yields few interesting results until your subject is a charlatan. When fact checking a mountebank, dull speeches suddenly become uproarious comedy, a clown who becomes ever funnier every time they open their mouth.

The only safe choice for the fool is to say nothing, because they're betrayed by their every word.
