As it turned out, it is perfectly accurate and precise in every respect. One can argue about the date, but it was clear Westmoreland was there a couple months before, and he is remembering material from decades previously. Anyone who thinks this attack is anything other than politically motivated is, IMO, ignorant of how politics works. It is obviously not worthy of the attention, but it probably will reduce Carson's "believability" margin just because of the ignorant who will only get the headline. It is media malpractice, but there is nothing to be done about it but for him to fight back.
