Following the HDD sector for awhile now, and it seems that anytime a major product is introduced - in this case 18GB SCSI drive - the sectors seems to retain higher margins as capacity increases., and the product remains on allocation. This will obviously help SEG as they "own" the high end server market with Dell/CPQ/HP.

Also, Mcropolis recently went in 11 and there remains appox. $800MM in revenue to be gained by someone.

Overall, this is a difficult business with suplly at the high end of the SCSI market ( where there is still margin ) far outstripping demand.

QNTM's DLT 7000 product is a GREAT product and should see VERY significant growth as CPQ/HP/Dell roll-out these 18GB drives into their server offerings - DLT is the primary source of server backup and with the increased capacity offered by 18GB drives there will be a need for higher capacity backup systems - IMO !!

Nice to meet the other QNTM die hards.........

Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR
