Mohan, hey there, the tenth of January is taken (VBG), its my topping date (VVBG). Actually, my tea leaves are starting to advance that date to the 3rd of January as a top and intra day reversal of the tepid year end rally. I still have to look at my turnips, but right now that is what it looks like. So much that I have sold the VECO I bought for the rebound yesterday. Back to 80% cash (and more if I count neutralization of MRK with deep ITM calls).

Mohan:

Ouch! Right in the heart. I'm one of those who bought for the Santa Rally. My thinking (stretch that that may be) was that since everybody knows about it, that it should be a sure thing as everybody bought into it. Wrong!

I notice that the Russian market has been doing pretty well lately. Is that in anticipation of Yeltsin's health improving or deteriorating? What will happen if he gives up the ghost? More to the point, what effect will instability in Russia (with their huge reserves of resources) have on various markets?

Good trading,

jim
