Eric, Most of Europe seems to think immigration is people bringing their (backward islamic) culture and carving out a section of the city or country for themselves - as opposed to the American idea of becoming part of or adopting the culture - while hopefully enriching the culture. Melting pot vs. salad bowl? I remember having that discussion one time in high school. Funny thing is that one of the advocates for the "salad bowl" concept is Tiger Mom herself, Amy Chua.
