I am not worried about the in-building scenario. Unfortunately, the world is not flat and free of obstructions. Canyons, mountains, forests, tunnels, etc. will all interfere at one time or another. Multiple path diversity will be far superior in using any available signal, especially when the sources are from 3 or 4 satellites at once. Liken it to the flashlight beam eminating down from the satellite. If a portion of 3 beams come together at one point, the light will be particularly strong. If one beam is blocked by a mountain, the other two beams will still come together at a point for a brighter light than a single beam on its own. Iridium just doesn't have that capability.
