“We could not afford the deductible,” said Kevin Fanning, 59, who lives in North Texas, near Wichita Falls. “Basically I was paying for insurance I could not afford to use.”

He dropped his policy.

Wait until this moron tries to go to the Dr without his insurance. Nowhere in that article was there a single peep about the fact that in the USA, an insurance card is a club discount card with your health service provider, often 50% off or more. Just another example of how badly clueless most the reporting on health insurance is.

The first thing the ACA should have done was force all healthcare providers to offer all cash payers the LOWEST PRICE THEY BILL ANY INSURER FOR THE SAME SERVICE.

Of course the insurance industry (and likely Obama) would yell and scream at such an idea. They aren't of course really interested in actually solving any problems...

Under the current U.S. healthcare system there are two kinds of insurance: some and none. If those folks
don't like the deductibles let them try it awhile without any insurance... go the emergency room then get their paychecks garnished for 30 years. I would rather see true single payer universal health care but until people get off their inertia and vote...this is what we get.
Also worth mentioning it wasn't just Republicans who hobbled several proposed provisions of the Affordable Care Act, it was conservative Democrats.
