With an all volunteer army it is easy to convince citizens to shed other folks blood, knowing that their own children are exempt. With drones and other remote weapons systems even more so. Of course our enemies may be primitive and ignorant, but they are not stupid. They understand that they cannot inflict significant damage on the colonial powers on ME soil, so increasingly they will do so on ours. That is to be expected, and is a direct result of our strategy of precision warfare. We have an awful choice ahead of us. Accept the fact that we can retain our values only by enduring continuous terror attacks at home, or inflict massive destruction and kill millions of innocent people in the ME so we can be safe. At some point the Russians are going to figure this out, and I suspect I know which path they will choose. Welcome to the 21st century.
