All you have to do is look at our conservatives. The past, and tradition, and locking down the wives and daughters always looms large for these folks- where ever they happen to be on the globe. I think our US conservatives would probably be super happy in the early part of the 19th century.

Saudi Arabia is an intense pressure cooker.
Trying to find a way to defuse it is just as likely
to set off a huge explosion. United States
involvement, which would almost be assured,
given our interests in trying influence a decision
favorable to our capitalist interest, would act
to decisively unbalance the equation toward
an explosion type outcome. This coup talk
is fraught with danger. Bad situation to be in -
they can't change, but they can't afford to
stay the same.
