I tried to read the bible, but got dissuaded by the Old Testament. I've read most of the New. I regard them as fables, the same as the stories of the Greek gods, but much less readable or interesting. The God of the Old Testament is much like the kind of hateful, vindictive humans I try very hard to avoid. I remain an agnostic, and view religious people as self-deluded. Most are harmless, but self-delusion can be taken to extremes, as we saw in Paris.
