When my grandparents came form Italy...they were required to get a job...learn English...and they had to register weekly with the police where they lived until they became citizens.........

This must have all happened behind the scenes and largely done by un-elected bureaucrats. I'm sure that immigrants used to have to speak and read English to become citizens. Isn't that correct?

I hear you There is also the cost to our economy, everything gets printed first in Spanish and sometimes other languages. Then there are the people who are going to help us on line via phone with our computers. Most can barely speak English . I have been on the phone this a.m. to White House Comment line. Then to my representative in Va. The Comment line gave me 3 times the time I normally give------ I began with 1. My Opinion 2. My Recommendation 3. Then: called my Member of the House of Representatives From the Comment Line Lady------I was told that there were now 16 States opposed. to Obama's opinion to bring in more immigrants------it is unusual to get info from the Comment line person; but this lady was obviously in the know. 4. When I called my rep. who answered the phone learned that more states expected to oppose Obama. Please keep the phone calls going to the Comment line and to your representative. 5.
