If we were any good at interfering I'd agree with you. But we suck ass. And NATO sucks ass. You can't impose civilization. You must isolate idiots until they see reason, for your own peace of mind. You must do this personally, and you must do this as a country- or you will waste your life arguing with morons about minutiae that doesn't really matter, or, if it does matter, won't be "fixed" by engagement. People must come to their own realizations about how they live their lives. If you "do something"- even with NATO- you'll probably just get reactionaries to dig in and become even more extreme.
