Imaging your Operating System:

Most people that don't image their OS, either don't know how or don't have a place to write their backup image.

Preferably you can make your image on a separate drive and a backup drive is a good investment, however you can also partition your main drive to make room for an OS image if you have enough space on it.

To do this requires two programs. One utility is to partition your OS drive and the another to image the OS partition to an Image Backup partition.

For partitioning, MiniTool Partition Wizard Free is excellent.

For Imaging, Macrium Reflect Free is also excellent.

To make a Backup partition, first resize the main drive partition and then you can create your Backup partition to write your Image on.

Your Backup partition should be at least 25-30% of the size of the data you wish to backup

I can give guidance using both these utilities and recommend both without hesitation.

Nothing beats backups.
