Yes, I used deal with them. They made a database product called ADABAS. It has been several years since I dealt with them, but if you want more information, e-mail me so we won't take up this thread. They are a German firm that had a separate North American entity. I suspect they have diversified a lot lately and that the IPO is for their North Ameican subsidiary.

Lucent Technologies (LU) 78 13/16 +1 3/16: story in the latest Barron's issue says that company could become a bigger player and spender in the networking market in 1998 as company will be freed to pursue acquisitions using the more favorable pooling-of-interest accounting method; according to a Morgan Stanley analyst, telecommunication equipment companies could also be on a collision course with data networking concerns as the better capitalized telecom equipment makers could be headed for an acquisition binge.....
