That is such a good post epicure. It was a pleasure to read, like a great poem or painting. I am always thrilled when I read something as articulate is that.

It has to be hard for religious people. I cannot relate to their struggle. To have to hold something in your brain, and believe it, even when it comes into conflict with the world as we perceive it through our sense and our testing- that's insanity, really. Sure, it's compartmentalized, and labeled as religion- but if people were letting a belief in a large pink space bunny interfere with their ability to accept science, we'd call that nuts. Religion is socially sanctioned insanity, and it's not something you can argue with. But deep down, religious people know they aren't rational, and it's hard to make your peace with that in a society as complex and educated as we are- unless you're ignorant, very fleet of foot in the compartmentalization department, or very good at not thinking about it. The undeveloped uneducated peoples of the world have a much easier time- how easy for a stone age people to believe in a stone age God.
