He is spreading hateful lies- and buried in that, is the GOP's death wish to cater to fearful racists in their party. Right wingers I know are completely obsessed with black violence- that will, of course, end up hurting them (they say). It's like they just came out of the antebellum South. Lock up the wives and daughters- they're a' coming for you. It's unusual rhetoric- remember the "knock out game"? It would have been funny that they all thought they were going to be victims, except you know it affected their behavior towards their fellow citizens. (I did just read a story about an elderly black man knocked out by a group of white men- bet that doesn't get much air time in right wing circles.)

I'm sure the racism thing is just displacement- it's a focus for their fear of change- just as Muslims are. Any "other" will do for the party of fear. But it's going to be problematic for us going forward, if they don't change. Our country will only get more multicultural, which will ratchet up their fears even more, which I would expect to make them more desperate and reactionary. I don't know how you fix that.
