The people who want to end Medicare and SS all claim that the current recipients won't be affected, just the young folks, who will be able to establish private accounts that will of course earn them all much more money that SS does and they will subsidize insurance for the elderly so it will be a better deal than Medicare because, you know, medical costs are controlled by the private sector much better than by the government. That is the pitch. There are so many falsehoods in that pitch that it is incredible. But never mind that.

What I don't understand is why the conservative geezers, all on SS and Medicare, vote for folks that want to end SS and Medicare! Two reasons come to mind: the candidates claim it won't affect present beneficiaries and they also claim to be "fixing" Medicare and SS for the long haul.
