I'd prefer a president to be elected on the basis of non-racist, non-discriminatory factors. Going after "the black vote" or the "Hispanic vote" or the "Women's vote" or "The Gay Vote" -- all discrimination to me which sort of takes advantage of the ignorant who don't know they're being used. Obama's "evolution" on gay marriage is a perfect example. Total lack of leadership, letting the country drift where the political winds take it.
