Penni, I am dashing off now as usual and don't have time to go back and read the post to which you referred. I will reconsider it later. In the meantime, yesterday in the paper I stumbled across this article about the very issues we were discussing, and all the inherent problems and joys of multiple celebrations at this time of year. I did feel it was a little manipulative in that the last paragraph is a child waxing nostalgic for a baby in a manger, but it's an interesting piece anyway. Incidentally, I am totally in agreement with everything you say in this last post regarding the importance of music in the development of children, and in enhancing our culture in general.

Maybe this period where we are trying to sort out religious celebrations in schools is sort of like affirmative action--a period most people agree is needed in our society, but something which will solve itself as things work themselves out, ultimately enriching everyone after things are more balanced.

I ran out of time to make rumballs!!! So I will just drink it straight, and think of you humming the Messiah while I dance under the moonlight in just my Santa hat!!!!!
