This explains a lot about our Libtards here. STUDY: Pot rots white brain matter...

Smoking high-strength cannabis may damage nerve fibres in brain

Study suggests high levels of skunk use may affect the brain’s white matter, making communication between the right and left hemispheres less efficient

The brain’s white matter seen from the front as obtained by diffusion tensor imaging. Photograph: Institute of PsychiatryHigh-strength cannabis may damage nerve fibres that handle the flow of messages across the two halves of the brain, scientists claim. Brain scans of people who regularly smoked strong skunk-like cannabis revealed subtle differences in the white matter that connects the left and right hemispheres and carries signals from one side of the brain to the other.

The changes were not seen in those who never used cannabis or smoked only the less potent forms of the drug, the researchers found.

Cannabis: what's in a name?

The study is thought to be the first to look at the effects of cannabis potency on brain structure, and suggests that greater use of skunk may cause more damage to the corpus callosum, making communications across the brain’s hemispheres less efficient.

Paola Dazzan, a neurobiologist at the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College London, said the effects appeared to be linked to the level of active ingredient, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), in cannabis. While traditional forms of cannabis contain 2 to 4 % THC, the more potent varieties (of which there are about 100), can contain 10 to 14% THC, according to the DrugScope charity.

“If you look at the corpus callosum, what we’re seeing is a significant difference in the white matter between those who use high potency cannabis and those who never use the drug, or use the low-potency drug,” said Dazzan. The corpus callosum is rich in cannabinoid receptors, on which the THC chemical acts.

A DTI image of the corpus callosum, as seen from the side, is shown in red on and superimposed on a background MRI image of the brain. Photograph: Institute of Psychiatry

“The difference is there whether you have psychosis or not, and we think this is strictly related to the potency of the cannabis,” she added. Details of the study are reported in the journal Psychological Medicine.

The researchers used two scanning techniques, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), to examine the corpus callosum, the largest region of white matter, in the brains of 56 patients who had reported a first episode of psychosis, and 43 healthy volunteers from the local community.

The scans found that daily users of high-potency cannabis had a slightly greater – by about 2% – “mean diffusivity” in the corpus callosum. “That reflects a problem in the white matter that ultimately makes it less efficient,” Dazzan told the Guardian. “We don’t know exactly what it means for the person, but it suggests there is less efficient transfer of information.”

The study cannot confirm that high levels of THC in cannabis cause changes to white matter. As Dazzan notes, it is may be that people with damaged white matter are more likely to smoke skunk in the first place.

“It is possible that these people already have a different brain and they are more likely to use cannabis. But what we can say is if it’s high potency, and if you smoke frequently, your brain is different from the brain of someone who smokes normal cannabis, and from someone who doesn’t smoke cannabis at all,” she said.

So smoking skunk causes psychosis, but milder cannabis doesn't?

But even with the uncertainty over cause and effect, she urged users and public health workers to change how they think about cannabis use. “When it comes to alcohol, we are used to thinking about how much people drink, and whether they are drinking wine, beer, or whisky. We should think of cannabis in a similar way, in terms of THC and the different contents cannabis can have, and potentially the effects on health will be different,” she said.

“As we have suggested previously, when assessing cannabis use, it is extremely important to gather information on how often and what type of cannabis is being used. These details can help quantify the risk of mental health problems and increase awareness of the type of damage these substances can do to the brain,” she added.

In February, Dazzan and others at the Institute of Psychiatry reported that the ready availability of skunk in south London might be behind a rise in the proportion of new cases of psychosis being attributed to cannabis.

Celebrate, America, Because The First TV Channel Dedicated To Selling Guns Is Almost Here

Are you the kind of person who likes the Home Shopping Network but thinks it could be massively improved with a lot less jewelry and a lot more firearms and concealed weapons apparel for women?

If so, next year will be a banner year for you because GunTV, a new, 24-hour live-shopping channel dedicated to the sale of guns and gun-related gear, is scheduled for a January 2016 launch.

The station will be run by The Social Responsibility Network ( which appears to run nothing else).

Louisiana-based Sports South, a 174-year-old distributor of guns and ammunition, is a partner in the channel.

The GunTV programming schedule will include a mix of live shopping segments, firearms safety public service announcements and infomercials about guns, ammunition, gun accessories and outdoor goods and apparel.

“All kinds of firearms, munitions, outdoor and shooting sports products” will be available, the GunTV website explains to prospective sellers. “Each product is reviewed for attributes that have the best opportunity for success. Items should have many of the following attributes: best value to the GunTV consumer, new, revolutionary, demonstrable, exclusives, collectable, unique, problem solving, solution oriented, quality.”

The GunTV logo features a shapely woman brandishing a gun in a quasi-Charlie’s Angels silhouette pose as well as a silver bullet gliding through the air.

Sports South will be the middleman in the GunTV operation. Once a customer places an order from GunTV, Sports South will ship the product to a retailer near the customer. The retailer will then handle any necessary background checks.

“The team at GunTV has an extensive background in television shopping networks, a well-established method of reaching consumers that has been absent from the shooting sports industry,” Sports South president Tripper Dickson said in a statement obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “Sports South is delighted to help GunTV bring this innovative concept to our industry and our strong network of retail dealers.”

They are conformists and demand others conform to their ideology. They are everything they claim to abhor.

The umbilical cord of Palestinian love and Israeli hatred

By Barry Shaw

I have never met anyone, apart from Arabs who describe themselves as Palestinians, who really gives a genuine damn about the Palestinians unless the issue is linked by an umbilical cord to the hatred of Israel.

Somehow the two things are welded together to the extent that you have to think what comes first: the Palestinian chicken or the Israeli egg.

Those who adopt the Palestinian cause use it as a club to beat Israel. Show me anyone who loves the Palestinians without hating Israel.

Their professed love of Palestinians is selective. They love them only if Israel is lurking there somewhere in their narrative.

They don't actively love them if Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, and other Palestinian abusers are in the picture. Then they go silent. I wonder why.

No BDS campaigns against Egypt for their blockade on Gaza. No pro-Palestinian protests outside Syrian embassies for their wholesale slaughter of Syrian-based Palestinians. BDS has nothing to say about Apartheid – Jordan that has kept Palestinian Arabs stateless, actually in refugee status, since 1948. No peep even against the Palestinian Authority that maintains refugee camps in the territories that they control and administer. How can you be a Palestinian refugee when you live under the control of the Palestinian Authority? Go figure, because I don't have the answer. Perhaps BDS does.

People who don't care about the Kurds, Yazidis, or Druze yell and scream about the Palestinian condition. Those who do nothing to help Tibetans overcome Chinese oppression, those who merely cluck about Rwanda, Sudan, and Darfur, suddenly discover the Palestinian cause.

If occupation is their schtick, how come they do nothing to protest Turkey's occupation of northern Cyprus or Morocco's occupation of the Western Sahara? Why no boycott campaigns against the two hundred countries that have an occupation issue? How come it's only Israel that makes them mad?

This professed love for the Palestinians goes hand in hand with a professed hatred of Israel. The deep hatred that festers against Israel – and I talk about deep hatred, not criticism – is all about Israel being the nation-state of the Jewish people.

It is an exclusive despicere that goes against all reason and logic, and it shows itself in the falsehoods and the perversion of facts and history and the blood libels that we Jews are so familiar after centuries of similar defamation.
