Show me the evidence, give me reasoned logic,

What's today called conservatism is built on a huge and comprehensive foundation not susceptible to easy explanation, particularly on this sort of venue.

Jonathan Haidt made astute observations why folks on your side of the aisle are usually resistant to examining their premises and really examining the other side's arguments. To do so would require considerable effort that conflicts with the usual smug assumption that leftist ideology retains a moral superiority (it doesn't).

In a better world that one book might trigger a re-evaluation by an army of deluded folks, many or most smart and decent. Experience suggests that's unlikely.
