Goldroad is about two miles north of Oatman on Oatman Road (Old US Route 66). Take I-40 West from Kingman to the Oatman Road (US 66) turnoff. It's about 23 miles from the turnoff at I-40 to Goldroad.

Goldroad is a drive through town. The Goldroad mine bars visitors from leaving the road. As you drive through look in the canyon and you can see the many ruins of Goldroad.

Mining in Goldroad started around 1863 and the area was passed by. In 1899, a prospector named Jose Jerez discovered a gold lode which brought people back into the area. By 1902, a post office was established under the name of Acme, to serve the four hundred people who came to the camp. The name was changed to Goldroad in 1906. As World War II declared the mines around Oatman and Goldroad as unneccesary to the war effort, the town died....and the Burros eat Carrots down south in Oatman-Vivian (TNM?)!
