Re -- COMPAQ SELLING AMD BASED SYSTEMS CONFIRMED.

I saw at Future Shop AMD K6 233 systems from compaq for 1199. with monitor and printer, the salesman said he would sell it for 1299. I suspect this will come down in price in January.

Looks like compaq is intent on speeding the End of life of the Pentium line of CPU's.

CNBC isn't any worse than the newspapers, financial or otherwise. When there is a major event one way or the other they will parade out those with the correct SWAG prior to the actual event. The most tragic example of that is the Nightly Business Report. They actually have a policy of only inviting back guests that make correct predictions since their last appearence. What you learn from that is less than zero.
