I think Dems should give up on gun control and instead start pushing a Google like development project to protect citizens from the 2'nd Amendment. We need automatic gun systems with vision systems which if anyone points a gun at anyone else they die on the spot. So nutcases can feel free to stroll around with their concealed carry guns but the instant they grab for it they die. This is no different than what police are already doing when they meet an armed individual (or unarmed in many cases...). The automatic systems can of course document why they shot the armed individual. We could put angular tolerances on the muzzle direction that merits a death sentence I suppose. No different than self-driving cars. No human will win a gun fight with such a system so the 2'nd Amendment simply becomes worthless and we don't need to argue with the five idiots on the Supreme Court.
