Sure I agree you will meet such individuals. But they have a much greater point if what they are saying is that "I'm quite sure there is no God such as the Judo-Christian God, because that God is supposed to be dynamically active in the lives of humans, and we don't see the claimed actions". That is much different than saying "I know there is no intelligent causal force in the Universe" etc. We don't know much at all about the origin of the universe, but once you start to ascribe particular characteristics to your causal force, then sans evidence supporting it, it becomes less and less likely to be true as you add more detail, because there are infinitely many other options with no evidence too.l

I don't care about labels either; ultimately what a person practices in their behaviors matters. When that involves the label, like sanctimonious judgement of LGBTQ, or other minorities, then it becomes relevant. I know atheists who are otherwise rabid right (okay they are rare, but I do know them), and I know religious people on the left and even far left.

Generosity and positive consciousness doesn't require or exclude a belief in the supernatural.

The uber violated "Golden Rule" would be a good start. The way you drive, the daily kindness you show, patience with a-holes, helping to solve personal and global problems unselfishly - transcends labels.
