You are still missing the point. You don't need to know anything with any specific accuracy. All you need to do is acknowledge your lack of knowledge. Faith is when you delude yourself DESPITE actually having knowledge that things are other than you HOPE them to be.

Why on earth do you think that incomplete knowledge means you must operate on faith? Incomplete knowledge might well mean you should operate with fear in your heart but it doesn't mean you must be in denial of the danger. You can acknowledge the danger and still choose to do any thing risky though it be.

The reason people find faith useful is that it allows some (most?) people to function in situations where their rational side might cause them to shutdown or give up. In that sense it has great utility. But other people keep functioning even without suspending their rational analysis of the situation.
