The other WDM products offerred by CIEN, NT, LU, and Pirelli are designed for backbones of phone networks to expand services and capacity....MCI, SPRINT, AT&T....all have spent big $$$ on this high end stuff....the RBOCs have also spent some big $$$ as many of them have added internet access to their list of services.....but MRV's product appears to be aiming at fiber to the curb which is a different story...... I'll look into this more tonight and tomorrow.......This product sounds like a replacement or an add on to a DLC (digital loop carrier) which carries the signal via fiber from the central office switches......
