And what my litlle philosopher-king do you have a problem with? I think the myth has been used to excuse all sorts of activities I consider against the better angels of our nature. I think all beliefs have the power to blind adherents to the evil that can be caused in the name of good. Perhaps a better way to put it is to say that religion has been the perfect excuse for some people through the ages to do horrible things to other people with whom they disagreed. When I think of Christianity I cannot help but think of those things too. When I think of Muslims and Hindus I think of the atrocities in India, and the sunis and shiites killing each other. Every religion, except the B'hai perhaps, seems to have atrocities in the woodpile. Did I get your dander up by mentioning this? Or do you just want to argue philosophy?
