No, I disagree with you. MSFT is becoming a monolith that is spreading to every fabric of communications, which is quite dangerous and frankly, against the spirit of the constitution. MSFT wants it all. Well here's reality, there is a growing concern about this concentration of power. It's no longer just a software company, as you have point out. TV and radio can't dominate single markets, telecommunication was deregulated and demonopolized, utilities are next. This country has a strong history of exposing and going after monoplies, cartels and trusts. It also knows no political boundries, as Republician and Democrats alike, over the years have gone after industries that attempt to dominate and control a market. Look at the level of arrogance it is showing right now with the court. You think that they are winning over the judge?? Better yet, think that they are getting any sympathy from the media or the public at large? Gates has been on a tear the last year about telecommunication and television. VERY POWERFUL GROUP, and one he choose to piss off. Well, now he reaps the seeds that he sowed. The more this drags out the more that is uncovered. The more they challenge it, the more the truth comes out and they have to spend more time putting spin on it. Frankly, MSFT could just as easily call in the browser makers and state that this is the angle they are taking the OS. They then license the OS at a extremely reasonable rate and allow Netscape and others to tweak it to fit their product. But that ain't happening, and for the very reason MSFT is getting itself into hot water; it wants to destroy "the next MSFT" ; Netscape. I guess Billion $ill ego just couldn't stomach that notion when Netscape went public. Now they are attacking Hollywood becasue of a script about a powerful software company. Tsk, tsk...... more powerful enemies. Americans don't like bullies.
