Attention Biotechies!!!
For those who like to do their holiday biotech shopping early, I’ve set up the SI board: “2016 Biotech Charity Contest”
Contestants can begin posting their 2016 Contest portfolio picks here:
Subject 59661

(Especially if you’re new to the Contest, please read the board Introduction before posting your portfolio.)

12/18/15 Contest update
The Four Witches were in a particularly nasty mood on this December’s “Quadruple Witching Day” and millions of investors under their evil spell could no longer utter the word “Buy.” But, for mysterious reasons, biotech investors were spared the worst of the witches’ curse.
So, at Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 12.18% YTD (vs. up 6.39% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index, was up 8.54% YTD (vs. up 5.35% YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index was up 11.26% YTD (vs. up 5.39% YTD a week ago). Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 3.95% YTD (vs. up 4.17% YTD a week ago).
Going down to the wire, MOPGCW’s portfolio, up 72.16% YTD, continued to hold a firm grip on first place. DEWDIL’s portfolio, up 56.26% YTD, got a nice bump from ADXS and took over second place, with GHMM’s portfolio, up 54.63% YTD, slipping to third place.
At the week’s close, 35 of the 51 Contest portfolios were in the green with 28 still beating the NBI and 26 beating the SPSIBI. The 206 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 2.56% and a median YTD loss of -8.75%.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the week’s Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks.
(Foreign stock prices are not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: ZSPH buyout by AZN for $90 per share. ZSPH was in a single portfolio and since buyout took place so close to Contest end date I did not reallocate cash.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for buyouts & splits, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a relaxing weekend biotechies.
Peace & good health,
Bulba
