This is the kind of thread I have been looking for. . .
The short-term traders end up giving tons of their
money to the government. I try to follow a rule I once
heard J. Templeton explain: you have to have something
that will do 50% better than what you have to sell and
take the hit of taxes and trading fees.
Over time, short-term traders end up giving their
brokers and the government much of their profits.
Buy and hold always works. Almost anytime I have
sold anything--I have found I would have been better
keeping it. Even in a bear market, it pays to hold
quality dividend paying stocks.
