OT...
Went to the MicroCenter in Cambridge today to look at G3's and instead, came home with a typical impulse buy, a Nikon Digital Camera COOLPIX 300 @ $700.00....really neat but guess what? It's going back after Christmas for the following reasons.

4 AA batteries last about 45 minutes before power is down to 5% and camera shuts off. You could buy the optional power adaptor but that sort of defeats the purpose.

This unit has 4meg of so called flash memory and will hold 66 images but the resolution is not great, only 640x480

Camera connects to your computer via a serial cable and data transfer is snail pace. Yes, you could buy the optional scsi cable.

NOW, I'll repurchase this toy when Nikon installs a 40meg CLIC drive
which will mount on my desktop via scsi cable or some neat variation on this theme and when resolution improves

It's probably a ways down the road but just sent email to Nikon to let them know one consumer's preference

Merry Christmas
