I spent my career in the semiconductor business, most of it with IBM.....do you not recognize that IBM's success is largely the result of semiconductor technology????? Getting mostly out of the semicon business was a mistake for them but it's a tremendously expensive business to be in with a single photo tool costing upwards of a100 million dollars, building a 1000 wafer start/day fab costs between 5-10 BILLION dollars..........they remain in the RandD side.....
