Its going to be a heck of a race. Never seen any published information that informs about the operating systems required to run these complex systems as applications, that is why the solutions being described most times reduce to a mathematical algorithm, versus understanding about how an advanced system might integrate with its environment in diversely different apps. Paradigm changing, requires full understanding of the anomalous properties of the systems being envisioned, as the systems being left behind contain only properties already mastered, and thus fully in synch with current logical frames and formats. Have yet to see anything from any press release which met the tests of this awareness. Admittedly, there are few press releases about inside china r&d that we here might see.
