The Wessels, Arnold & Henderson report dated 11/11/97 mentioned that PAIR had won a contract with NTT for deployment of 1000 units of its HiGain product. Could this be one of the big contracts PAIR expects to get next year. Lets hope so.

December 18, 1997 -- Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp (NYSE: NTT) said it will start testing xDSL technology in Japan next February in cooperation with about 250 Internet service providers.

The xDSL (Digital Subscriber Line) technology allows high-speed data to be sent over existing copper telephone lines, making Internet access more widely available.

"The trial is designed to determine if xDSL technologies can be used as a stopgap measure until the fibre-to-home optic network system is completed in 2010," an NTT spokesman said.

During the ten-month trial, NTT plans to evaluate the speed and quality of the technology by connecting its subscriber copper lines with those of Internet service providers, NTT said.

NTT said that it will start recruiting participants in the trial on December 19 and that it plans to test single-line DSL and asymmetric DSL technologies.
