Thank you for your post. True, Some Japanese have inactive aldehyde dehydrogenase-2 (ALDH2) and therefore have problem with accuumulating acetaldehyde in the body, which causes all the symptoms similar to pretreatment with Antabuse in alcoholics. Antabuse, as you well know, blocks the enzyme aldehyde dehydrogenase. Therefore people with inactive ALDH2 are genetically programmed and protected against alcoholism, eventhough some exceptions are known.
