Easy answer, the longer you study the inside of a petri dish the longer you can drag out the "were getting ready for PFS" comment. The longer you can drag out the hope that someone can fix the met issues that need fixing to get to a bulk throughput.

So at all costs, repeat et nausieum you are almost as good as, or pretty darn good, or close to exactly sorta synthetic, but avoid actually producing any in a bulk environment because it could it one fell swoop destroy the fantasy.
