Lago Trasimeno saline? No, not at all. They have at least one regulated outlet at San Savino, which finally got active this summer, when the water level went close to records thus flooding too many properties. The lake is only aro 20 feet deep at the deepest. Still, after the 3 Alpine lakes it is the 4th largest lake in Italy. When Hannibal beat the hell out of the Romans in 217BC, the water level was higher. It has been artificially lowered at least twice in history. Back in the crazy 1960s it was even proposed to empty the lake and thus create prosperous agricultural - and edificial - reclaimed land...

Good commercial fishing too, which is reflected by the food served at the local restaurants.
